Giving your neighbors' child a ride home after soccer practice, or helping a kid stranded in a thunderstorm, might soon land you in jail: Virginia lawmakers are debating making it a crime to lure a child into a car — even if the child doesn't get in the car.
It's already a crime to lure a child under age 15 into a car or house to commit a sex offense, or to kidnap them, but Delegate Rob Bell (R) says there needs to be a law for intent, too. But how do you distinguish between the creepy guy cruising past bus stops and the suburban mom just trying to be nice? That's the challenge. If passed, this law could provide us with hilarious news stories for years to come.
