Manhole covers stolen in Fredericksburg, economy surely to blame

Perhaps you didn't believe us when we told you that, as the economy continues to lag, people are resorting to stealing assorted metal objects. Here's further proof: a rash of manhole-cover thefts in Fredericksburg. They weigh as much as 75 pounds, and are only worth $100 — an awful weight-to-value ratio that shows just how desperate some of us have become.
