Dr. Laura Schlessinger favors showing depictions of aborted fetuses on television, she announced on her blog today.

Since D.C. congressional candidate Missy Smith began airing graphic anti-abortion ads on local television stations this month, she's gained few supporters for her campaign. Comments from TBD readers who saw the ads, for example, ranged from "I am appalled that you would choose to air this advertisement during our family time, where my 5 year old grandson saw every graphic clip" to "There are other ways to get her point across, by not using dead babies!!!!!!! Please forward this to her political campaign." Even Smith's own political party has refused to endorse her as a candidate.

Now, Schlessinger has endorsed Smith's ads. Hey! At least it is better than a fart compilation.

Schlessinger is irked that while local television stations are legally required to air the political ads, Internet sites like YouTube have no such legal obligation to present extracted fetuses to viewers.

"Her 30 second ad was pulled from YouTube, posting a notice that it amounted to a 'violation of YouTube’s policy on shocking and disgusting content,'" Schlessinger wrote. "What is the ad? It’s 30 seconds of still photos of aborted babies. . . . Yes, the murder of innocent babies in the womb is shocking and disgusting in a civilized society. Dead babies ripped apart aren’t really pretty. But it is the truth." Schlessinger added, "If it’s really that gruesome, should it be a 'right?'”

In order to put Smith's ads in context, Schlessinger presented a brief compilation of other shocking videos currently hosted on YouTube:

I went on YouTube and explored by using words like “shocking,” “disgusting,” “vulgar,” “mean,” and others. And what happened? Videos appeared with subjects like atrocious sexual exploits with links to sites with “more more more,” fart compilations, squeezing pus from boils, and a snake eating a hamster.

Bloody aborted fetuses, farting. Potato, potahto.
