Since 2009, local street harassment blog Holla Back DC! has amassed anecdotal evidence of the region's catcalls, whistles, honks, and gropes. With a new questionnaire sponsored by a grant from the AAUW, the blog aims to get more specific.

In the survey, people who have lived in the D.C. metro area—or have simply braved our streets and public transportation—are asked to relate their experiences with public sexual harassment in and around the District. The questionnaire collects data on all forms of harassment, from untoward honks to aggressive phone number requests to full-on physical assaults. Then, it asks respondents how they felt about the intrusion and what they did about it. The survey also indexes respondents by gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
