Arch's Weekend Movie Guide 1/19/12
New Movies this week include:
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close---award contender with Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Max Von Sydow and Thomas Horn---as a young boy searching for a message from his father after the attacks of 9-11. A Heart tuggers with award potential, particularly for Max Von Sydow as an elderly man who chooses not to speak. 3 stars
Haywire---Martial Arts champ Gina Carano beats the stuffing out of an all star cast in a very fun funny high octane action adventure. She's a spy for hire that someone wants to kill. Good luck with that. 3 stars
Red Tails---The story of the Tuskegee Airmen---the group who broke through racial barriers to distinguish themselves as fighter pilots during world war two--get the full high tech action treatment. Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard lead an excellent cast. Great action, but wooden dialog keep this from its full potential. 2 1/2 stars
