From boots to briefcases: The federal worker helping the nation's military transition back to civilian life

Troops face uncertainty as they transition back from war. Unemployment for veterans is skyrocketing; military members must find a way to provide for their families while dealing with the effects of serving the country. The transition from war back to civilian life can be difficult, but one federal worker is trying to help troops find their way home, mentally with counseling, job training and general support.

Dr. Alfonso Batres is nominated for a Service to America medal for his work with the Department of Veterans Affairs. He shares his experience as a veteran himself and how he's helping others get back to their civilian lives.
