Here's a surprise: Jim Gray involved in controversy

This from Steve DiMeglio of USA Today on Twitter, from this afternoon:
"USA Ryder Cup captain[Corey Pavin] and Jim Gray have heated exchange after presser. "You're a liar," Gray said to Pavin. "You're going down."
Two minutes later, this:
"In an eyeball to eyeball conversation, Gray actually stuck his finger in Pavin's face."
Gentlemen, please!!!
The furor stems from remarks Pavin supposedly made to Gray, who's now working for the Golf Channel, saying that he would pick Tiger Woods for this fall's Ryder Cup, despite the fact that Woods has not exactly performed up to par (geddit?) since his return to the course from tabloid hell. Pavin has since said that he was misquoted, and a good many other things as well, on his Twitter feed.
Pavin and Woods are both playing in this weekend's PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin.
As for me, all I can muster is shock, shock that Jim Gray is at the center of controversy.
