Late-afternoon news
Over at the official Redskins blog, Matt Terl has a list of all the events going on next week as the Redskins open their season at home against Dallas. No doubt I'll be attending a couple of these events listed (and TBD will have full coverage of the game itself, of course). And remind me to work from home on "Honk if you hate Dallas Day".
Tonight's Redskins game will be the final broadcast in a full-time capacity for Ernie Baur of Comcast SportsNet.
Yi Jianlian of the Wizards missed China's final game of group play at the FIBA World Championships in Turkey today after suffering an Achilles tendon injury. Reports from Turkey do not make clear when Yi sustained the injury, but he did play 35 minutes in China's previous game against Russia. Not surprisingly, China lost to Turkey 87-40, but still qualified for the next round of the tournament, where they'll play Lithuania on Tuesday. According to China coach Bob Donewald, Yi will need to undergo an MRI.
Nyjer Morgan will likely find out his fate Friday.
Enjoy your evening, folks. I'll have some analysis of the Redskins-Cardinals preseason game tonight. So don't touch that mouse!
