It was another glorious day in Washington Sunday, and if you indulged in the nice weather, than you missed a lot of news in the world of sports. Here's the most important stuff.

-Did you think that this was the best college football game of the weekend? Don't be so sure. This finish between East Carolina and Tulsa was pretty good, too.

-The Redskins signed seven players who their practice squad Sunday. Mike Jones has a full list and breakdown here. Also, the Redskins receiving corps could be getting a boost soon, depending on what T. J. Houshmanzadeh decides.

Also, Mike Shanahan says that Donovan McNabb will probably start Sunday against Dallas (but you knew that). As for Albert Haynesworth? Well ... we'll see.

-Yeah, it's the Pirates. But a road series win is a road series win, and the Nationals did just that Sunday, defeating the Pirates 8-1 yesterday. Jason Marquis (!) gave the Nationals six solid innings, and the Nats broke the game wide open with a five-run fourth inning. That Nationals open a six-game homestand this afternoon with a Labor Day special against the Mets. First pitch is at 1:05.

-Yesterday, we mentioned that Yi Jianlian was undergoing an MRI for his injured Achilles tendon at the FIBA World Championships. Well, according to Truth About It, the MRI has come back negative, meaning Yi will likely be cleared to play in China's Round of 16 matchup against Lithuania on Tuesday. No doubt the Wizards brass absorbed the news through gritted teeth.

Enjoy the holiday, folks. I'll be reporting from the Maryland-Navy game from Baltimore today and will also be breaking down the Terps and the Middies on SportsTalk with Tim Brant tonight at 9 on TBDTV.
