Candidate debate; GOP race intensifies; Norton on DC gridlock

Tuesday on NewsTalk, Arlington Supervisor Barbara Favola discussed her state Senate bid. Her battle with fellow Democrat Jaime Areizaga-Soto, who was invited but declined to attend, has been dominated by charges and counter-charges from the candidates and their supporters. They’re running for the District 31 seat being vacated by veteran legislator Mary Margeret Whipple.

Politico reporter James Hohmann offered analysis of the fight for the Republican presidential nomination, which intensifies this week in Iowa, where candidates will debate on Thursday, two days ahead of the closely-watched Ames straw poll.

And DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton discussed the impact the debt debate and the downgrading of U.S. debt is having on Wall Street. Also – efforts to get Congress to approve back-pay for FAA workers who were furloughed recently.
