I hope I've caught you before you leave the house for this very important announcement: Do not wear sweatpants today. Same goes for your jeans with holes, your too-tight tank top, your ill-tailored suit, your sloppiest, shapeless dress. You might meet the wrath of roving fashion cop/personal shopper Stacy London, who is in town for a "shopping crawl' today to promote her new personal shopping service, Style for Hire.

London will be making apperances in 11 area stores today to help shoppers pick out clothes that will prevent them from ever landing on her show – which is coming to D.C. very soon. She and her stylists will start in Georgetown and make their way downtown, then up to Chevy Chase, with a special noontime appearance in a downtown Ann Taylor that will no doubt horrify her with its overwhelming quantity of government contractors wearing taupe. Someone should keep the smelling salts handy for this one. Anyone who brings an "orphan" garment – an item of clothing that doesn't seem to go with any of their clothes – will get assistance in making an outfit of it. We'll consider this the triage phase of London's grand D.C. fashion intervention.
