"News organizations need to get it in their head!"
Bill Line, the spokesman for the National Park Service's National Capital Region, has had just about enough of media reports that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have a permit for their just-announced Rally to Restore Sanity/March to Keep Fear Alive.
"Two individuals and a public relations firm on their behalf have submitted an application for a permit," Line says.
He then explains to me the process of getting a driver's license. "Well the same thing" is happening at the Park Service, Line says.
Does he know when a decision may be reached?
"Every permit application is unique," Line says. "The Park Service is in talks and negotiations" with the people who have submitted the application in question.
"We do not negotiate with the news media," he says.
