Nick Hornby and Ben Folds, Buddy Guy, Richard Thompson: Tonight's concerts
Brit author Nick Hornby (High Fidelity, About A Boy) and singer/songwriter Ben Folds are at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue tonight, promoting their collaborative album Lonely Avenue. As TBD's Ryan Kearney says, it's pop lit meets lit-pop! It's also certain to be a complete love-fest: Folds and Hornby never seem to tire of saying nice things about each other. Even press materials (which are highly cloying by definition) for Lonely Avenue are extra stuffed with gooey quotes about their mutual admiration. "With some recording artists I think the music comes from some place I don’t understand yet I still love it. But Ben’s stuff comes from a place that I’ve got in me anyway," Hornby says of Folds. “I felt like I’d found something rare on Ebay or something," Folds says of working with Hornby. For more artist-on-artist gushing, see the video below, which also includes a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album.
