TBD Night: TBD Takes TBD Night off edition
11:12 p.m.: Well, Washington, I think that's all she wrote. Hot Jazz Saturday Night just ended so it's probably time I turn in.
For those of you looking for one last party tonight, TBD.com's Mandy Jenkins reports that "TBDNight is on [her] until 12." Head to the Mighty Pint at 19th and M Streets NW for a chance to get a drink from a total stranger!
Otherwise, get to bed and get ready for DC's 2nd Annual Tweed Ride tomorrow. I'm sure it will be the least pretentious thing you can do on a Sunday. You're cooler than me if you can figure out where it starts from.
The rest of the night will be handled by some HTML code, so keep those #TBDNight tweets coming! G'night!
10:58 p.m.: Still online and looking for something to do? Are you a music-loving hipster, beer drinking man's man, dance-music enthusiast or leather daddy? Then BLOWOFF at the 9:30 Club by DJ Bob Mould might be your ticket. The staff says you shouldn't need need tickets in advance.
10:43 p.m.: PACMAN UPDATE: TBD.com's Sarah Godfrey tweets that Island Cafe on Upshur and 8th NW has the Manny Pacquaino bout televised. Not only that, but there's a BATTLE OF THE SEXES HIPHOP SHOWCASE. Something for everybody at Island Cafe!
10:36 p.m.: Reader Patrick Pho brings us this shot of musicician Rachel Levitin from Black Fox Lounge just north of Dupont Circle. She'll be playing until midnight, there's no cover, and you shouldn't have any problem finding seats.
9:56 p.m.: BREAKING GOTH NIGHT UPDATE: Just as I was wrapping up my post on Spellbound, a friend texted me to say that tonight is the 8th anniversary party at Midnight, DC's *other* goth night, which happens to be right down the street from Spellbound/Recessions, at another basement-level bar, The Meeting Place.
The birthday celebration will feature three DJs (none with names as good as Blue Vampire) who are "guaranteed to get you out on the floor until the city government forces us to shut down at 3:00 a.m.!" Is Midnight the goth night of choice for libertarians and Tea Party sympathizers? If you're there, let us know!
The open bar is about to end at 10 p.m., but there will be drink specials all night, including $4 beers, $5 Bombay and Stoli, and something called the "black death shooter" is $2 (when I called, the bartender told me the ingredients are secret!) Happy Birthday, Midnight!
9:44 p.m.: "Decayed, moldy, dark and damp spaces were not the norm but only a mental backdrop for a place that was never accessible to modern culture."

Decayed, moldy, dark and damp. There are probably not four words that better describe Recessions, a bar in the basement of a hotel on L Street near Farragut North. So it's appropriate that the quote appeared on the website of Spellbound, DC's premiere goth & industrial event, which is hosted every Saturday night at Recessions. Get down (and mopey) on the dance floor to the sounds of DJ Blue Vampire tonight!
Recessions + Goth sounds like a combo that really shouldn't be missed. Spellbound started at 9, and goes until 2 a.m. There's a $7 cover, $5 rail drinks, $4 Captain Morgan, and my favorite part about this bar, 28-ounce drafts for $5.
9:17 p.m.: The local internets have been buzzing a bit about DC-3, a hot dog place that opened recently in the Barracks Row neighborhood by the folks behind Matchbox. Some friends who have been report delicious things about the Bay Bridge Pretzel Dog (a pretzel bun with crab dip and old bay) and the California left-winger, a falafel dog with tzatziki and avocado. There are like a dozen more dogs and they all sound awesome.
It's at 423 8th Street SE, near the Eastern Market Metro, and they're open until 10 p.m. tonight. I'm told it's not crowded. Check out TBD.com's preview here.
8:57 p.m.: It's a bobble-head fire sale!

Every President must go! A keepsake from a time when the democrats were popular. What are the chances these were made in China? Thanks to reader Ryan J. Reilly for sharing.
8:36 p.m.: Ouch! DCist's Aaron Morrisey reports a two-hour wait for two people at Cuba Libre on 9th & H NW. THAT'S WHAT HOSPITALS WILL BE LIKE UNDER OBAMACARE!
8:25 p.m.: Twitter user @alexisglenn writes: "Hey #tbdnight what bars are playing the Pacman fight tonight?"
On the assumption that she's talking about the boxing match between future President of the Phillippines Manny Pacquiao and some meatbag named Antonio Margarito, I made some calls, and because it's a pay-per-view event, most bars aren't showing it. But here are four that are:
-The Ugly Mug, 723 8th Street SE, Barrack's Row, Eastern Market Metro
- Buffalo Billiards, 1330 19th Street NW, Dupont Circle Metro
- McFadden's, 2401 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Foggy Bottom Metro. $10 cover to watch at the bar, and for $30 you can watch in the dining room with an open bar, buffet, and sound
- Bailey's Pub & Grill, 4238 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Ballston Metro. $10 cover
Coverage of the fight should start at 9:00 p.m. Don't assume that any sports bar will be showing it! Call ahead, and let us know if you find a spot to watch.
8:08 p.m.: TBD.COM STAFF UPDATE: There's now a photo of some people at what appears to be a bar. It look's like Jim Brady is there! I don't know who the other people are, but it doesn't look like any of them are tweeting.
Meanwhile, I'm at home listening to Hot Jazz Saturday Night on WAMU 88.5. It's pretty hot.
7:50 p.m.: Breaking: A source reveals that the staff of TBD.com is gathered at Ireland's Four Courts, near Courthouse Metro Station in Arlington. Stop by and say hi to some of DC's most prominent new-media celebrities, like Erik "Fuego/Frio" Wemple! And tell them to leave and f*cking tweet more about other stuff that's going on. Cheers!
7:37 p.m.: FREE BOOZE UPDATE: Ultrabar Nightclub, Bar & Lounge tweets that it's LADIES NIGHT TONIGHT HAY GURL HAY. Those of you with two X chromosones get a free shot at midnight. They're going to play that Lil' John song SHOTS, and during the duration of that song, women can have all the shots they can drink. How many can you do in four minutes? Let us know!
Also, veterans and military personnel get in free all night. Free shots and military dudes? That doesn't sound like it could get sketchy at all! There's a $25 cover if you're a civilian with a dick.
Ultrabar is at 9th and F NW.
7:22 p.m.: JOSE ANDRES RESTAURANT ROUND-UP: As you may have guessed, things are pretty crowded at the restaurants of one of DC's most consistently popular and well-known chefs, but all is not lost.
Zaytinya: You'll really be eating like you're in the Mediterranean tonight; the earliest you can reserve a table is 11:00 p.m., and walk-ins can expect to wait 90 minutes for a table for two.
Cafe Atlantico and Minibar: Slightly better. If you're just making up your mind now, you'll be able to get a table at 9:30. But they only have one table for walk-ins, so be sure to call ahead. The six-seat Minibar, almost needless to say, is full.
Oyamel: The Mexican tapas place is booked until 10 tonight, and if you walk in, get ready to drop a whole lot on $10 margaritas (With air salt! Kinda worth it) while you wait for an hour and a half if you're a party of three or more; couples can expect to wait just about as long.
Jaleo: With three locations, Jaleo might be your best bet for tapas tonight. Don't push your luck downtown, with no reservations left tonight and waits around 45 mins to an hour. But the Crystal City location has tables from 8:30 on, with insignificant waits after 8. In Bethesda, you're looking at a 30 minute wait, and no reservations until after 10:30.
6:50 p.m.: I DON'T WANNA WAIT ON THIS LINE NO MORE: TBD.com's Sarah Godfrey is shocked (shocked!) that the line for tonight's Bob Dylan concert at GWU's Smith Center is really damn long, and sent along the photo evidence to prove it. It's a sold-out show, but there seem to be a few people on Craigslist selling tickets for between $50 and $100.
6:40 p.m.: Izumi Sushi in Great Falls is the newest addition to the DC sushi scene, which seems to be growing more formidable after the renovation of Sushi Taro and the arrival of Kushi in Chinatown. Former TBD.com head honcho Jim Brady, who's on the scene, tweets that Izumi is packed on its second weekend in business. Domo arigato, Brady-san!
6:27 p.m.: Food options with a side of music: At Comet Ping Pong tonight, a bill of local rock acts that Brightest Young Things describes as "a night of DC-rooted American Rock 'n' Roll with a touch of garage twang."
Starting at 10:30 p.m., Shortstack, Good Omens, and Dennis Kane & the Hoarders will rock you as you enjoy some of DC's best pizza pie. It's $10 to get in, all ages. Comet Ping Pong is at 5037 Connecticut Ave. NW (practically Maryland, but worth the trek), not too far from Tenleytown and Van Ness Metro Stations.
6:07 p.m.: Do wine tastings sound a little stuffy and straight-laced? Chief Ike's Mambo Room is hosting "Dayna's Dungeon Happy Hour" tonight, with about $1 off all drinks until 9, and live music by "The Road" from 8 to 10:30.
The Road describe themselves on their website as prog-rock alterna-folk jazz-funk, and I think Cormac McCarthy just spun in his grave (Oh, he's not dead yet?). When I asked one of Chief Ike's minions what "Dayna's Dungeon" was, he wasn't sure, but suggested that Dayna is a bartender, and added that she is tiny. Your guess is as good as mine.
Chief Ike's is at 1725 Columbia Road NW, Adams Morgan.
5:47 p.m.: WINE TASTING UPDATE: As the tasting at Cork comes to a close, you'll have until 7 to try five different pours at Screwtop Wine Bar in Clarendon. There's a $5 "donation," and Screwtop has tweeted that there's a "dynamite Malbec" in the mix. A few blocks from the Clarendon Metro at 1025 N. Fillmore Street, Arlington.
5:33 p.m.: With delays on the Metro, maybe you were thinking, "Screw public transportation! I have a car." Well, the stars are aligned against you, friend:
According to Traffic.com, the George Washington Memorial Parkway is backed-up in both directions. One Twitter user it described the back-up as "massive."
(That's what she said?)
5:22 p.m.: Speaking of sangria, Wisdom has tweeted that it's serving up its own - the "most potent sangria on the Hill" - for $6 tonight, which I suppose represents a special deal.
Wisdom is on Pennsylvania SE at 15th Street, a block from the Potomac Ave. Metro. It's just down the block from Trusty's bar, where you should go when you're ready to get stupider. Full disclosure: I got drunk there last night.
5:16 p.m.: It's a poor man's Epcot on Columbia Pike this evening, the penultimate night of the Pike's Global Dining Week.
A friend of mine who dined there last night had positive things to say about the margaritas and appetizers at Restaurante Abi, a Salvadorean place that's taking 15 percent off of items on it's food menu. But wait, it get's better! The hostess I just spoke to reported that tonight it's $3/$5 for small/large sangria, and draft beers for $1.99, and it's not too crowded - a small group shouldn't need to call ahead.
Sounds pretty good to me. I think we can wrap up this blogging now, yeah?
5:00 p.m: Here's your weather update on the hour with Andrew Siddons.
Good afternoon, Andrew! Weather Underground says that it's 48.1 degrees Fahrenheit on U Street. It's still kinda nice enough to be using my screen door, but maybe for not much longer.
No precipitation in sight, and the low temperature may creep toward freezing around 10 p.m. Tweed jacket might not cut it tonight.
4:53 p.m.: FREE BOOZE ALERT: Cork Wine Bar is tweeting that they're having a tasting of Italian wines for Thanksgiving. You've got until 6 p.m. to get a pour. 14th Street NW between R and S.
4:46 p.m.: As you make your plans tonight, keep in mind that there's track work on ALL five Metro lines: that's Red, Green, Blue, Orange, Yellow, all delayed because of track maintenence. Thankfully, most of the work being done is nowhere near downtown or major night life neighborhoods, unless you're thinking about going to the Thirsty Turtle in College Park. Oh, wait, nevermind.
- Blue & Yellow are sharing one track between Pentagon City & Braddock Road
- Orange line is one one track between Vienna and West Falls Church.
- Red Line is on one track between Shady Grove and Twinbrook.
- Green line is on one track between PG Plaza and College Park.
4:30 p.m.: Thanks, Andrew! I hope our TBD readers have some fun things planned tonight, but if you're still wondering what you can do to take advantage of the last bit of daylight and the warm-ish weather, the Sculpture Garden Ice Rink in front of the National Gallery of Art has opened for business! It's $7 for 2-hour sessions that begin on the hour, with last call at 9 p.m.
So let us know what you're up to tonight; I'm sitting at home on my computer on a Saturday evening, so I clearly have no idea what's going on.
4:13 p.m.: Due to some tech problems, we're behind schedule. Hello! Welcome to TBD Night. The TBD staff is gathered for some intense in-training and trust games. Driving the TBD Night schoolbus in their stead is Andrew Siddons, whom Amanda Hess and Maura Judkis say is good people, and that's enough for us. Tweet your TBD Night updates using the #tbdnight hashtag or use the submit tip button on our mobile app. Take it away, Andrew!
