The Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth show at Black Cat tonight has been canceled. Gogol Bordello is at 9:30 Club, but that concert-going experience may be a little intense for anyone looking to store up some energy for festivities tomorrow night. Natalie York's show at Jammin' Java tonight, on the other hand, may be the perfect New Year's Eve eve show. The Stax-influenced Vienna, Va., singer/songwriter is performing from her new CD, Threads, a collection of songs that sounds like a cross between Shawn Colvin and Corinne Bailey Rae. But it's not York's first time at the venue—she first performed at Jammin' Java several years ago, as a member of the James Madison High School band.

Also tonight:

Monty Alexander at Blues Alley

Riders In the Sky at Birchmere

Otis Heat at Rock & Roll Hotel

The Skip Castro Band at State Theatre

Deck the Hall at U Street Music Hall
