The entertainment line-up for Mayor-Elect Vincent Gray's January 2 inaugural gala has been announced, reports the Washington Post's Mike DeBonis. Chuck Brown, Raheem DeVaughn, Style Band, and the Yvonne Johnson Trio will perform.

Brown isn't exactly a surprise choice, but the Godfather of Go-Go, who was recently nominated for his first Grammy, is a guaranteed party-starter.

Nabbing major-label artist DeVaughn (another area native and recent Grammy nominee) for the event is a pretty big deal. Here's hoping he sticks to tracks such as "You" and "Woman" and skips his more risqué material.

The Yvonne Johnson Trio, a solid local three-piece that plays jazz standards, is best known as the house band at the old-school Northeast Washington haunt Bobby's Q.

Style Band is an Upper Marlboro, Md. outfit known for Top 40/RB and oldies covers—in other words, Gray will be able to get his hand-dance on.

The ball is free and open to the public, of course: 7500 tickets are available and can be picked up at the Washington Convention Center Dec 28-30, from 10 am to 2 p.m.
