'Tougher than Ward 3': The Tenleytown crew that raps about councilmember Mary Cheh.

If the 2010 D.C. mayoral race taught us anything, it's that District residents love the intersection of hip-hop and city politics. In a video released yesterday, Ward 3 residents, with help from the group Save Our Safety Net, borrowed a refrain from Run D.M.C to ask Councilmember Mary Cheh why she's "buggin'," by not supporting Mayor Vince Gray's proposed tax increase on D.C. residents making more than $200,000 a year.

The first D.C. budget vote is Wednesday; while it has been reported that the spending plan is unlikely to clear council with Gray's tax hike, Save Our Safety Net, a non-profit group that supports raising taxes for the city's wealthiest residents in order to prevent cuts to social services, is holding a rally today on the steps of the Wilson Building at noon to ask the council to get behind the tax increase.
