Wale hits the road
A flurry of Wale news! The most important item: The Maryland-bred major label MC is kicking off his own national "Ambition" tour this month. Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, and other special guests will appear on select dates. Alexandria, Va.-rapper Black Cobain will appear on all dates.
Pre-sale for the Live Nation tour, named for Wale's upcoming album, which drops Nov. 1, started yesterday; regular sales begin tomorrow at 11:01 a.m. Although Maybach Music Group is giving the tour's start date as Sept. 15, Wale is putting in a slew of homecoming appearances and doing a few guest spots on Lupe Fiasco's Generation Laser tour (including a Sept. 16 Merriweather Post Pavilion set) through the end of the month. The "Ambition" tour really kicks into high gear in October.
As a way of celebrating this big ol' milestone, Wale has announced a contest. The rapper is giving fans a chance to design an official commemorative "Ambition" tour poster. The winner will receive $500, concert tickets, and have their design recognized at the Dec. 8 show in Atlanta, the final tour stop, and made into a commemorative poster.
Talented artists: Get in on this before the October 18 deadline! Everyone else: Just watch this new video for "The Way," from Wale's The Eleven One Eleven Theory mixtape.
