Tonight: Lights, Tyga and 'Precious Knowledge' documentary
Precious Knowledge, a documentary about the fight for ethnic studies in Arizona public schools, screens at Busboys and Poets (Hyattsville). Directed by Ari Luis Palos, the film chronicles how some lawmakers are fighting to cut ethnic studies classes at Tucson High School. ("You want different culture, go back to that culture, but this is America," State Rep. John Kavanagh, a Republican, says in the film.) It received an honorable mention in the Best Documentary category at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival in 2011. 7 p.m. Free.
