Book lovers, this is your day. Carpe Librum: The City's Largest Pop-up Book Sale kicks off today and features more than 40,000 books, music, and movies for sale. The annual used book sale benefiting Turning the Page runs through May 3. 1030 17th Street NW.

Alec Baldwin roams town today fighting for the arts. The Emmy Award-winning TV and film actor will deliver the 25th Annual Nancy Hanks Lecture, discussing social and policy issues affecting the arts, on the eve of Arts Advocacy Day. Baldwin also plans to visit Capitol Hill. The Kennedy Center. 6:30 p.m. Free.

Electronic indie rock band Redline Graffiti performs with Jeff Beam and Is And Of The at Velvet Lounge. 9 p.m. 18+ $10/21+ $8.
