The Donkeys

The Donkeys bring a bit of southern California to the District. The San Diego four-piece's latest release, Born With Stripes off Thing Thing Thing records echoes of The Grateful Dead and Buffalo Springfield, and more recent bands Pavement and Beck. Dead Oceans writes, "What makes the Donkeys so potent is not their ability to rehash the past, it's their records embody a pureness, an authenticity that is unmatched in contemporary music." They perform with Shark Week and The Rememberables. Black Cat Backstage. 8 p.m. $10.

London band Crystal Fighters' unique sound features Basque instruments and synthesizers. They perform with Is Tropical. Rock n Roll Hotel. 8:30 p.m. $15.

Play back old memories with Our Vintage Film at Jammin' Java. The pop band performs with Bonaventure, The Offset and Money Cannot Be Eaten. 7 p.m. $10/$13.
