Tonight: Rhett Miller and the Serial Lady Killers

Old 97's frontman Rhett Miller's newest album, The Dreamer, out tomorrow on his own Maximum Sunshine label features "Lost Without You," a track co-written with Ben Kweller and appearances by Rachael Yamagata and Rosanne Cash. "At the heart of The Dreamer is "Picture This," a reverie of domestic life befitting a married father of two. It paints a blissful scene of sweethearts whose love only grows stronger amid the demands of kids and chores," writes the Philadelphia City Paper. Rhett Miller and the Serial Lady Killers perform at Jammin' Java. The Spring Standards opens. 8 p.m. $20/$22.

EuroAsiaShorts, short films from Europe, Asia and the United States, opens at Goethe-Institute. The mini filmfest features five nights of films at various venues throughout the city. China-Germany features screenings of Raju, Uwe-Uwe, and The Opposite Shore. A discussion featuring Ning Yang, associate professor at the Beijing Language and Culture University and Markus Ziener, Washington Bureau Chief of Handelsblatt, follows the screening. Goethe-Institut. 6:30 p.m. Free.
