Twitter reports indicate an "emergency" on the Red Line at Gallery Place due to smoke between Gallery Place and Metro Center. According to TBD's Jeff Sonderman, the smoke has caused the closure of Metro Center station. If you have info, let us know in the comments or submit a tip.

Around 10 a.m., DC Fire/EMS tweeted that the trash fire that caused the smoke was under control.

Red line trains are turning around at Judiciary Sq. and Farragut North. Orange/Blue line trains are passing through Metro Center station and discharging passengers although there is no access to the Red line, according to several reports on Twitter.

Jeff Sonderman reports: "#wmata officials at Gallery Place say smoke condition is cleared and that station plus Metro Center will reopen in minutes."

10:44: WMATA reports that Metro Center station has reopened.
