Redskins fact check: Sonny Jurgensen and Sam Huff for Week 4 versus the Eagles
The Facts Machine is back for Week 3, and we're fact checking and live-blogging Sonny and Sam during the Redskins' game against the Rams.
7:30 p.m.: That's a ballgame, folks.
7:20 p.m.: Sam just called a hook-and-lateral play a "wildcat." Is that an old-timey term, or does he just not know what the wildcat is?
7:09 p.m.: Sonny wants to give the game ball to the offensive line. Sam wants to give it to the defensive line. They will never resolve this divide.
6:45 p.m.: Sam: "I'd like to say this is the best we've seen from Albert, but it is." Larry: "Then say it."
6:04 p.m.: Politico's Ken Vogel does not approve of the Redskins radio team.
5:36 p.m.: Michael: "That's the first time I've ever seen a field goal booed." Huff decries the "dumbness" of Andy Reid.
5:34 p.m.: After the lengthy review: Huff: "What down is it? I lost track."
5:16 p.m.: Huff credits Fletcher's tackle to the Redskins switching to the 4-3. Jurgensen and Michael correct him again.
5:15 p.m.: Huff is saying the Skins are now playing a 4-3, which he has been advocating since the season began. From what I can tell, it looks closer to a 2-5, with two defensive tackles and two outside linebackers playing right at the line. Sonny is correcting Sam.
5:11 p.m.: Radio playing Mike & Mike ad. Greenberg thought there would be more boos, Golic thought there would be more cheers. According to TBD's Mike Jones, McNabb got a standing ovation during pre-game, but was booed during the first offensive snap. Also, that was an incredibly long ad.
4:37 p.m.: TBD's Dan Daly has this gem: "Troy Aikman just said he was 'surprised; by how much Torain has played already. What tape has HE been watching?"
4:33 p.m.: Sonny, Sam split on whose fault Davis' drop is. Sam blames Davis for slowing up his route. Sonny thinks Donovan overthrew him.
4:21 p.m.: After Moss is horse-collared: Sam: "I think that's a legal tackle." Larry: "No, that's a rule change." Sam: "Yeah, but it's made in New York, not on the football field."
4:19 p.m.: Huff continues to hype a four-man front. Says it's confused Vick on the first drive.
4:15 p.m.: Game is ready to start. Radio and TV are synced up for once.
