5 indicted in South Capitol Shooting case

Five men have been indicted in connection to a series of crimes that ended with a mass shooting on South Capitol Street in March.

Sanquan Carter, 20, Orlando Carter, 21, Jeffery Best, 22, Robert Bost, 22, and Lamar Williams, 22, were arraigned in D.C. Superior Court on Friday afternoon, according to a news release.

They are next expected to appear in court for a status hearing in April. Trial is scheduled for January 2012.

All the defendants were indicted in connection to the death Jordan Howe, 20, and other charges related to a March 22 incident. Orlando Carter, Best, Bost and Williams also face charges for shootings that took place March 30.

Seventeen-year-old Tavon Nelson, 16-year-old Brishell Jones, 18-year-old DaVaughn Boyd, and 19-year-old William Jones were killed in the March 30 shootings, which ended with a drive-by on South Capitol Street.
