The 23-year-old man accused of killing a University of Virginia lacrosse player who was his former girlfriend isn't expected to face the death penalty, reports the Washington Examiner.
Charlottesville police spokesman Gary Pleasants tells the Examiner that "capital murder is not even a consideration right now" in the case of George Huguely V.
Huguely is charged in connection to the death of 22-year-old Yeardley Love, whose body was found in her Charlottesville, Va., apartment in May. He reportedly told police that he fought with Love and saw blood coming from her nose when he hit her head against a wall.
Huguely, who also played lacrosse at U. Va., is next expected to appear in court in January.
