Gunman in P.G. police-involved shootout arrested

UPDATE 8:56 a.m.: The suspect was apprehended sometime before 2 a.m. Thursday, P.G. police said.
UPDATE 5:34 a.m.: Police say the suspect was arrested early Thursday morning.
Update 7:35 p.m.: ABC7's Brad Bell says police were called for a suspect wanted in connection with a robbery. When officers approached the man he pulled a gun.
Police tell Brad the officer fired his service weapon, but it is unclear if the suspect fired. He fled on foot. The officer was not hurt.
Original Story 5:47 p.m.: Prince George's County police officers were involved in a shootout with an armed man Wednesday evening in Suitland, a police spokesman said.
Officers were called to the 4500 block of Silver Hill Road after 5 p.m. for the report of a man armed with a handgun. When responding officers located the armed man, he opened fire on them, Cpl. Henry Tippett said.
The officers returned fire. No one was hit by the bullets, investigators believe.
The armed man fled during the shootout. Police set up a perimeter and are looking for him.
