A University of Maryland football player was struck by a vehicle while riding a motor scooter Thursday night on the university's campus.
According to a release issued by Maryland late Thursday, Peter DeSouza was travelling westbound on Campus Drive around 9 p.m. when a driver turned left in front of him near the Stamp Student Union. DeSouza's scooter collided with the vehicle causing him to go down.
DeSouza is being treated for non-life threatening injuires at a local hospital.
The driver of the striking vehicle was issued a ticket.
The University of Maryland Department of Public Safety is investigating.
