I-295 reopens after police chase, crash

UPDATE 5:02 a.m.: D.C. police say they were trying to pull over a pick-up truck, but the driver refused to stop and hit a retaining wall on I-295, ABC7 reports. It's still unclear why police were trying to stop the driver.

During the chase, police say, the driver rammed a MPD cruiser that was also trying to stop him. The man waslater  taken into custody. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. No officers were injured.

UPDATE 4:32 a.m.: I-295 has reopened.

I-295 before Route 50 is closed early Monday after a crash stemming from a police chase, US Park Police said.

Police say a driver of a pick-up truck crashed into another car and then rammed a police cruiser.

The driver of the truck was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

No further details were immediately available.
