Arrest made in fatal shooting at K St. SW

Update, Nov. 23, 8:45 a.m.: The Washington Post reports that D.C. police have arrested Carl Purvis, 45, of Capitol Heights, and charged him with first-degree murder while armed.

Original post, Nov. 16, 2010: D.C. police are investigating a fatal shooting in the 200 block of K Street, SW.

Police say 28-year-old Gregory Joyner was shot several times Monday night. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to D.C. CRIME SOLVERS at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department's TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
