District EMS vehicle collides with vehicle

A District emergency medical services vehicle struck a civilian vehicle at North Capital Street and Harewood Road in NW D.C. Tuesday afternoon.

Two people have been taken to a local hospital or hospitals. Both were not seriously hurt.

The accident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. The medic was heading to Washington Hospital Center with a patient when the crash occurred.

DC Fire spokesman Pete Piringer says the medic unit "had their lights and sirens on when they were struck by the passenger vehicle in the intersection."
