Route 50 has reopened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic around Courthouse Road after a gas line ruptured Wednesday afternoon.

The gas line ruptured at about 2:50 p.m. Crews shut down Route 50 in both directions between North Pershing Drive and North Lynn and North Mead streets.

The ramps to Courthouse Road remains closed from Arlington Boulevard.

Closures were expected for two to three hours but opened sooner.
