Reston man killed in accident on Fairfax County Parkway

A Reston man was killed and his passenger injured in an early morning car accident on the Fairfax County Parkway, police say.

Prince William County Poilce say that 22-year-old Arturo Cruz Zaldivar was not wearing his seatbelt he lost control of a 1988 Oldsmobile Bravada on Route 7100 near West Ox Road just before 2 a.m.

Crash investigators determined that Zaldivar was driving north on the Fairfax County Parkway when the car went off the left side of the roadway and traveled across the median. The car began to roll, continued up an embankment and crashed through a fence and into the backyard of a home in the 13100 block of Lou Alice Way.

Police say that speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

The passenger, who was only identified as a 20-year-old male, was treated for minor injures. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
