A Dumfries woman was arrested Monday and accused of attempting to hire a hitman to kill her husband, Prince William County Police say.
Authorities say that 34-year-old Sonia Guerrero Kuske, of Dumfries, solicited an undercover detective to kill her husband to collect insurance money.
Court records say that money and marital issues between Kuske and her husband led to police responding to their Dumfries home in the past.
In February, police say they were tipped off to the plot by Kuske to have her husband killed. She solicited an undercover agent who posed as a hitman. She planned to pay for the murder using insurance money collected after her husband's death.
"Details were shared with that person and she was fully willing to go forward with the act," Officer Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County Police said.
Family members man who was the target of the alleged hit were too distraught to speak to ABC 7.
However, neighbors said there was no indication that a murder was being planned.
"It seemed like a happy marriage, normal," Derek Scott, a neighbor, said.
Another neighbor, Adrienne Scales, said that Kuske typically kept to herself.
"I'll try to make eye contact...and she never acknowledges or anything," Scales said. "She sort of darts right into her house.
