Product: Port-A-Poo dog waste carrier

Tagline: "Still holding poo?" or, "Picking up where your dog left off."

Cost: $12.99 plus tax

Available at: Metro Mutts, 508 H St. NE

Why you might want it: You love your dog, but you don't love carrying a plastic bag of feces around in your hand while you're out taking a walk. Or, as Metro Mutts co-owner Anna Collins puts it, "Why carry your dog's poo when your dog can do it for you?"

How it works: The bone-shaped plastic clasp attaches to your dog's leash, creating a secure place to fasten that most dreaded of doggie bags. "You have to screw it into place, but it stays really well," says Collins.

The bottom line: Collins believes in this product so much, she's practically a Port-A-Poo evangelist. She tells a story about how she recently pulled over while driving to stop and tell a woman she saw jogging down the street with both a baby stroller and a dog in tow. "Her bag of poo was like, flopping off her arm," says Collins. "I was shouting, 'ma'am, you need the Port-A-Poo!' It's just one of those products I think everyone should have."

Poopy the Magic Hobo is the angel behind this venture, as I understand it.
