As you make your plans for Labor Day weekend, keep the following changes in trash & recycling collections and parking enforcement during the holiday in mind:

The D.C. Department of Public Works will not collect trash or recycling on Monday, Sept. 6. The normal holiday "slide" rules will apply — trash and recycling collections that normally take place on Monday will be made on Tuesday, Tuesday’s collections will be made on Wednesday, etc. In neighborhoods with twice-weekly trash collections, Monday and Thursday collections will be made Tuesday and Friday, and collections normally made on Tuesday and Friday will be made Wednesday and Saturday. Also keep in mind that projected high temperatures and poor air quality this week mean collections are starting earlier, at 6 a.m. each day.

DPW will also suspend enforcement of parking meters, residential parking, rush hour lane restrictions, and towing of abandoned vehicles on Labor Day.

More information on DPW’s trash and recycling holiday schedule can be found on the department's website
