Possible storms today just as Montgomery County residents have power again

- More storms on the horizon today.
The last thing anyone in Montgomery County wants to hear about is another storm. Well unfortunately there may be some more storms with damaging winds today, just as everyone in the county finally has electricity again.
As of Friday, 17,000 Pepco customers in the county were still without power. The majority of them were back up by Saturday. Then on Sunday, Pepco restored power to the remaining 250 customers throughout Maryland and D.C. who still didn’t have power thanks to Thursday’s storms.
Pepco has come under a lot of heat, not just from this recent storm, but also for its response to a late July storm that left hundreds of thousands of county residents in the dark for days. Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) asked the Public Service Commission to investigate Pepco’s response, and that’s exactly what will happen, starting at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday. You can watch it all live online.

Montgomery County signed statutes years ago to protect the trees and the beauty of them that grow by the roadside. So please don't complain when those trees, you voted to keep, break the power lines in strong storms. Pass a regulation to rid oversized trees to be cut away from powerlines and maybe your area, when hard hit, won't suffer such outages. However, i do agree that PEPCO has to work a bit harder to keep the service in better order -- SMECO kicks butt when we lose power.
