It's the kind of shopping spree Supermarket Sweep aficionados were made for.

When the new location of Nordstrom Rack opens next week at Pentagon City, one shop-aholic will be given the chance of a lifetime: 90 seconds. $2,000. A store full of merchandise for the taking.

Nordstrom runs the "Race Through the Rack" event every time it opens one of its discount stores, like the one opening at Pentagon Centre Aug. 26. Wannabe winners have to fill out this form (PDF) and drop it in a drop box outside the store's entrance before 8:45 a.m. on opening day. (Nordstrom recommends arriving early.)

One name will be chosen and let in before everyone else to shop for up to $2,000 of stuff in 90 seconds. All lined up and not the winner? Don't worry. Nordstrom will try to soften the blow by giving the first 1,000 shoppers at the store next Thursday a free tote bag. As crazed shopping events go, however, there's no way it'll be as bad as last month's running of the brides.
