Drive through Forest Glen on a regular basis? The experience will be a lot worse before it gets a lot better.

Work to upgrade streets, sidewalks, and curbs has begun and won’t be complete until summer or fall 2011. The construction will impact the neighborhood bound by Georgia Avenue and Dennis Avenue, and will also include some streets on the other side of Forest Glen Road.

Road work will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, and traffic will flow, if need be, through one-way, alternate routes. But be patient — there will naturally be some delays and the work will cause some noise and dust.

The pavement will be smoother, but the roads won’t be wider. The work doesn’t include changing the width of the streets or sidewalks.
