The Metro Halal Food cart in Rosslyn at the corner of North Lynn Street and Wilson Boulevard is getting a little competition. D.C. food truck scene newcomer Tasty Kabob launched in Rosslyn on Monday, and has already deployed its second truck in Pentagon City, starting today.

You can follow them on Twitter, but you may not have to. Tasty Kabob is planning to stick to one location with its carts, according to owners slash kabob-slingers Ibrahim and Naz Hanifi (a husband and wife team). In Rosslyn, the cart is parked on North Lynn Street between Wilson Boulevard and North 19th Street.

The second truck is run by Ibrahim's nephew, and launched today in Pentagon City at South Hayes Street and South 12th Street. The Hanifis own a restaurant in New York City, but now live in Gainsville, Va. They hope to open about four more of the carts, including some in D.C., according to Ibrahim.

The trucks are distinguishable with their bright green paint and white lettering; on their Twitter page, Tasty Kabob refers to itself as the green team. It features the basic halal fair, chicken with rice, lamb with rice, white and red sauces, as well as pita for a gyro-style sandwich.

Tasty Kabob's line was hopping today during lunch hour in Rosslyn, although we're thinking Metro Halal will be just fine. (Its line seemed no worse for wear out front of TBD HQ this afternoon.) The new cart's location is dangerously close to where District Taco prefers to park in Rosslyn, however; are we in for a food truck showdown? Doubtful. Apparently, the two carts got along just fine when they both turned up there this week.
