Crews from Arlington County Department of Environmental Services are on the scene of a water emergency in Rosslyn near North Quinn Street and North 16th Street.

It appears to be a 6-inch main, one of the smaller pipes that carry water throughout the system, according to Arlington County spokesperson Diana Sun. "They believe it will only affect one or two blocks," she says. "But it's too early to tell for sure how many will be affected."

Water is bubbling up out of the street and along the curb on North Quinn Street and running down the hill toward North 14th Street and U.S. Route 50. The incident was reported late this afternoon, according to a crew member on the scene. There was no water main work going on at this site today.

Police have closed off the block of North Quinn Street between 14th and 16th Streets. At this point, water has not been shut off to the surrounding neighborhood, but it likely will be shut off soon in order for DES to assess the problem, according to the crew. We'll keep you posted with updates as we know more.
