Arlington County Police took their share of blows from assailants last week, as arrests in three incidents devolved into the alleged perpetrators hitting or otherwise assaulting officers.

The first came on Aug. 25, when police approached a woman suspected of shoplifting on the 1100 block of South Hayes Street. "She fought officers and was disorderly. She was found in possession of stolen property and lied about her identity to police," according to the report.

Jamila Gill, 19, of Washington, D.C., was slapped with a whopping seven charges, including attempted assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, forgery of a public document and petit larceny/receiving stolen property. She was held without bond.

Then over the weekend, two people hit cops while drunk. First, on the 3200 block of Wilson Boulevard at about 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 28, "an intoxicated subject assaulted an officer while being arrested," according to police. "Musse Mohamud, 31, of Centreville, was charged with assault on law enforcement and drunk in public."

That same day around 5 p.m. on the 1000 block of South Hayes Street, "an officer was punched while taking a subject into custody for assault and battery." The subject, Steven Mellott, Jr., 38, was charged with assault on law enforcement, assault and battery and drunk in public.
