A new location of New York-based Crumbs bakery will be satiating Clarendon's sweet tooth as early as this fall. The cupcake-baking confectioner is slated to open in late September or early October, according to a spokesperson for the chain.
Clarendon Culture spied the signs up for the shop in Clarendon yesterday. It's in a prime location at 2839 Clarendon Boulevard, which is on a busy strip across from Market Commons and next door to where Red Mango opened earlier this summer. Crumbs is making their entree to the D.C. area in a big way, with two stores set to open in the District this year: one at Metro Center and one in Union Station.
Bakers must be hoping the cupcake craze is as successful in Arlington as it was in the district. (Georgetown Cupcake has had to emploty bouncers at their M Street store, after all.) Bakeshop opened in the Zoso Building on Fillmore Street earlier this year, and Buzz Bakery is also planning its second location for Ballston. These three are in addition to bakeries that have served the area's cupcake needs for years: Heidelberg Bakery and Pastries by Randolph on Lee Highway both come to mind.
