Crystal City Sector Plan meeting moved to Tuesday, Sept. 28
Residents hoping to give the Arlington County Board an earful on the county's 40-year plan for redevelopment of Crystal City are in luck: they won't have to spend their Saturday in the county offices.
The board will deal with the Crystal City Sector Plan on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at a night meeting usually reserved for overflow items from the previous Saturday. There is a very full agenda for this Saturday's meeting, however, and so the board will discuss and take public comment on the Crystal City plan Tuesday night. Discussion of the plan is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Judging from the number of commenters discussing the proposed plan at a recent Arlington planning commission meeting, there could be some lengthy discussion on the merits and perceived shortfalls of the Crystal City redevelopment strategy at next week's meeting.
Crystal City's immediate neighbors to the west are hoping the county will agree to take on an "edge transition study" to help create a smooth juxtaposition of the more dense, urban neighborhood and its smaller, single-family home laden neighbors. The Planning Commission recommended that the study be included in the overall plan at its meeting last week.
