Cuba Libre, a new Cuban restaurant and rum bar that's been "coming soon" to the corner of 9th and H streets NW since the beginning of the summer, finally has a real opening date: Oct. 1 will officially mark the start of its "preview" hours, which will feature half-priced dinners through Oct. 7, according to a news release.
Then from Oct. 8-13, the preview discount on dinner items drops down to 25 percent. Full menu prices will go into effect on Oct. 14. Online reservations for any of those dates can be made starting Sept. 25.
If you work nearby, take note that these preview dates will not include lunch service. The restaurant won't start serving lunch until Oct. 20.
After a number of false starts and construction delays, a spokesperson for the restaurant assures TBD that these dates are really for real. Really.
The Penn Quarter restaurant will mark the fourth Cuba Libre location in the U.S. Three others are located in Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and Orlando.
