D.C. Central Kitchen president recently told off Rush Limbaugh
UPDATE 5:59 p.m. D.C. Central Kitchen CEO Michael Curtin calls in to offer some additional thoughts. He says he isn't aware of any threats that resulted from last month's YouTube video, and that he hadn't even thought that the two might be connected until we asked.
"We've been in this city for 21 years, and because of the work that we've been doing particularly of late with the new contracts that we received ... especially with D.C. Public Schools, we've been able since the end of July to create 40 new jobs for District residents. Many of those are folks who were formerly incarcerated, homeless, addicted, or a combination of any of those three," says Curtin. "So to have something so small-minded and infantile happen is just very, very disheartening."
Original post: The mystery of who would go to the trouble of vandalizing a bunch of D.C. Central Kitchen vehicles continues to confound, but it's worth recalling that DCCK president Robert Egger recently took it upon himself tell off conservative talk radio personality Rush Limbaugh. Only about a month ago, Limbaugh described non-profit workers as "lazy idiots" and "rapists in terms of finance and economy," so Egger responded by putting together a clever video response that got picked up pretty widely.
Egger is traveling today and we've yet to be able to reach him via phone. There's zero evidence thus far that points to any particular suspect in the overnight vandalism, but we can't help but wonder whether Egger's video response to Limbaugh might have inspired some yahoo to take up a spray paint can.

Best blog I've ever read...Go D.C. Central Kitchen. Finally people are fed up with Rush Stupid and his vicious rants. Loved it.
