If you're a Rosslyn-ite and you've been wondering what's been going on with that empty lot on Clarendon Boulevard across from the Courtyard Marriott, wonder no more.
The developer that last year leveled the garden apartments on that property is planning to break ground there in December on a new high-rise apartment buildings and townhouses.
Developer JBG received approval for redevelopment of the site in June of 2008, but the project has been on hold since then. Plans for the site include two residential towers with 454 apartments, and 25 townhouses facing 16th Road on the south side of the site. The approved plan also includes 54 affordable "market rate" apartments to replace the affordable units that were previously on the site.
Real estate broker Erik McLaughlin of CB Richard Ellis told an audience at this morning's real estate virtual tour of Arlington that JBG is planning to break ground on both towers in December.
We haven't heard back from JBG yet, but county records confirm that JBG/Rosslyn Commons, LLC applied for a building permit for tower number 1 in September. We'll update you as we know more.
