Montgomery County roadside boxes not speed cameras

Those suspicious-looking white boxes that have been popping up on Montgomery County roads aren't, in fact, some kind of fancy new speed camera.
The boxes are actually enclosures that cover vents for underground equipment.
Oh, and the enclosures are manufactured by a company called Hot-Box. That's right. Hot box.
Police spokeswoman Lucille Baur said she wrote up a press release Tuesday clarifying the difference between the county's speed cameras and the fiberglass enclosures after the department received numerous calls from confused residents.
"There were also rumors spreading over the Internet," she added.
But when asked if she also wrote it up for fear that the boxes could inadvertently be the targets of misdirected speed-camera rage (torching, anyone?), she said, "oh, no, no. These are two different situations."
Either way, don't light roadside objects on fire, OK?
