The Quarterdeck Restaurant, which has peddled its no-frills crab shack meets dive bar atmosphere in Arlington for the last 31 years, is closing, according to an email from the owner, Lou Gatti.
The restaurant, which is located at 1200 Fort Myer Drive, was unable to reach terms for a new lease with its landlord, Gatti told members of the Radnor-Fort Myer Heights Civic Association in an email today.
Gatti has been at the helm at Quarterdeck for the past 15 years, and told neighbors as recently as last week that he was preparing to renew the lease for another 15 years. But he was unable to reach terms for the building, which is more than 70 years old.
"We will be closing soon and everything is for sale ... It was a good run, and I will miss all of you," Gatti wrote.
We've reached out to the owner to determine exactly when the restaurant's final day is — if it hasn't already passed — and will keep you updated.
