Those of you still pining for the long-shuttered Colorado Kitchen in Brightwood, fire up your doughnut detectors: Chef Gillian Clark has signed a lease to open a similar restaurant in the Loree Grand at Union Place, right there at 3rd and K streets NE, according to a news release from the NoMa Business Improvement District.

The restaurant, dubbed "Kitchen on K Street” and slated for an April or May opening, will bring back the old Colorado Kitchen concept and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Clark describes the expanded menu as "Betty Crocker gone Cordon Bleu," and will include things like roast chicken, meatloaf, and yes, homemade doughnuts. Mmm.

Clark says she's aiming to serve the immediate neighborhood and chose this location for its "neighborhood feel and history."
